SAN DIEGO COURTS: Prosecutors announced Tuesday that they will not seek the executions of two men accused in connection with two fatal shootings in southeastern San Diego in 2006.
Sirron Norris and Dominique Moss, both 21, now face a possible sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted of murder and other charges. They were arrested two years ago as a result of a nine-month investigation that included wiretaps.
Prosecutors had filed special-circumstance allegations of shooting from a moving vehicle and multiple murders, which gave them the option of seeking the death penalty.
A trial has been scheduled for Jan. 12 in San Diego Superior Court.
Norris and Moss are charged in the Feb. 26, 2006, slaying of Curtis Howard, 20. According to testimony from a previous hearing, Howard was driving on Radio Drive in Encanto with his girlfriend when shots were fired at them. Howard crashed into a canyon and died.
Norris and Moss also are charged in the March 26, 2006, slaying of Darnell King in Valencia Park. King, 17, was standing with friends in front of a home on San Onofre Terrace when gunmen wearing hooded sweat shirts opened fire.
A third man, Amon Dykes, is charged in the King slaying. Dykes, 21, faces a possible sentence of 50 years to life in prison if convicted of murder and other charges.
Today I read about pot-growing operation that was discovered in a home raid. Narcotics enforcement officers seized hundreds of marijuana plants that were being grown inside a home. A search warrant was served Friday at the house on second Ave near C street. 931 marijuana plants many with their roots still attached. The entire first floor of the house was being used as an area to grow the plants police said. A 36 year old man was arrested while leaving the house. He faces charges of Marijuana cultivation.
Interesting facts- Police estimate the street value of the marijuana at $450,000.
My Opinion- I think that the ALTERNATIVE STRATEGY the cops used was good. They had PREVIOUS ways to bust this guy. I think that if the cops think they are doing a good job on busting drug dealers they aren't there is always going to be drug dealers.
Today in the union tribune I read that led zeppelin might reunite and tour but they plan on doing it without Robert Plant. John Paul Jones, the group's founding bassist, told the BBC that he and his fellow band members would consider looking for someone to replace Plant. Plant joined the rest of the band for a one-time concert in London, England's cavernous O2 arena last December. It was the group's first full set since 1980, the year the band broke up after drummer John Bonham died. The band's former promoter Harvey Goldsmith said the band should not tour without Plant.
I think that the reason led zeppelin wants to tour without Robert Plant is because he has something else going with Alison Krause who performs bluegrass music for those who don’t know. But even if that’s not the problem he also posted on his web site that he has no intentions with touring with anyone for the next two years.
The article I read this morning was about a former high school teacher who got sentenced to jail for one year. Garry Lin Wilcox, is being charged for having sex with a minor. Mr. Wilcox is 44 years old. He was a geography teacher and a soccer coach. The school he worked at was Helix High School. He admitted having sex with the girl one time at a hotel in Mission Valley. The girl said that they had sex hundreds of times. She said that they even had sex on school grounds sometimes.
I believe that the world is out of control, I mean there is criminals all over the place. I find it disgusting how teachers can be having sex with there students. All these criminals deserve though to be incarcerated for there crime.
An interesting fact that I read in the article was that since December of 2006 for former teachers from Helix High School have been charged with having sex with students.
What I read in the Union Tribune newspaper for October 30, 2008 was that a 36 year old man was growing marijuana in his home. Hundreds of marijuana were growing and he used the first floor just for his marijuana plants. The man lived in Chula Vista on Second Avenue near C Street. A total of approximately 931 marijuana plants were seized and most of them had their roots still attached. The San Diego man was arrested while he was leaving his house. The estimate of the marijuana if it were to be sold on the streets would be $450,000. I think its really stupid to plant marijuana in your OWN HOME. It would be great if it was somewhere else.
According to the union tribune, the violence in Tijuana, Baja California continues. A municipal police officer was found slain. The war between drug cartels continue for the fight of drug routes to the states. The police officer was a pig for 10 years. His duties involved guarding the commander of police in Tijuas. Police found his body at around 1:25 am yesterday morning. He was found shot to death in the front seat of his Ford Bronco in a neighborhood known as Las Colinas east of Tijuana. Three others were found in a Ford Ecoline in the southern parts of the city. The men seemed to be strangled and one handcuffed.
Today I read an article about a crackdown in Imperial Beach on smoke shops. This crackdown started early last week with a raid that closed one shop. Undercover deputies confiscated 2,500 pipes. On October 22 two stores Up in smoke and Inner vision had two arrests for selling items for the sole porpose of smoking drugs. After Up in smoke opened a year ago in a busy beach commercial zone, city officials implemented an urgency ordinance extended October 15 to stop new smoke shops from being opened in the city while it worked on more formal guidelines.
The article read today talked about the time. On Sunday the clock has to be broth back one hour. Turning your clock back might be good for your hart. Swedish researchers looked 20 years of records and discovered that most hart attacks happened when you added a hour to your clock. Putting your clock forward in the summer had for deaths then putting it back. Its going to help us when we put the hour forward because you get a extra hour of sleep. cording to doctors that’s good to change the time.
My opinion on this article is that its good that its going to get darker sooner. The reason I say this is because im a get more sleep.
In today’s paper I have read that their was a drug bust over in Chula Vista. The man was arrested while trying to leave the house. The police officials said that the entire first of the house was filled with marijuana plants. Nine hundred and thirty-one(931) plants to be exact. Police estimated that the street value of the plants were up to four-hundred and fifty thousand dollars($450,000).
