Today I read about a man that gets a prison term in real estate agents death. A lakeside man convicted of murdering his real estate agent was sentenced yesterday to 40 years to life in prison. In September a jury found Michael Ray Jennison 38, guilty of second degree murder. He shot and killed James Magot in the head over a dispute over a condominium deal in February 2007. James 64, wanted to but the condominium for himself but Michael wanted to sell it to his neighbor. In court yesterday Michael received a 15 years to life in prison sentence yesterday for the second-degree murder charge. He then received a 25 years to life sentence in prison for the personal use of a firearm. The judge denied motions filed by the defense for a new trial and to reduce the conviction to manslaughter.
Interesting Facts- The defense attorney argued that Michael should be granted a new trial because jurors inadvertently saw a newspaper article about suppressed evidence in the case.
My Opinion- I INTERPRET that this man that was INVOLVED was not thinking 100 PERCENT clearly about what he was doing before he did it. I think that he deserved the time that he got that is a dumb reason to kill someone because they want to buy your house.
What I read in today's’ Union Tribune newspaper for November 21, 2008 was about serving breakfast to some of San Diego’s poorest schools. Thousands of children have their breakfast delivered to their classroom though this program that allows the children to get free breakfast meals in which the federal government pays for. For this school year 30 schools are allowed to serve breakfast in their classrooms. For next year 10 more schools would be added. Only 25 PERCENT students make it in time for breakfast in the cafeteria. Educators were concerned if the other students ate a nutritious meal in the morning before they arrived to school. The district serves breakfast to 12 schools that INVOLVES 8,500 students. I INTERPRET that serving students in elementary schools breakfast in the morning right in their classroom in the morning is a good idea. I think this is a good idea because eating breakfast in the morning gives the students enough energy in the morning to learn.
In today’s paper i had read that more elementary students are attending more. why? Because most of the students aren't the wealthiest kids on the block but most don’t have the money to sometimes have breakfast at home, so what do they do? They come to school even sometimes early to get their breakfasts. A first grader in the name of Erin says “I like eating here, its cozy and the food Is good.” they say this might be a good thing for the schools. why? Because more students means money.
The San Diego Union Tribune announces the Carlsbad boxer Danny Perez who stepped off the ring is thinking about fighting again a junior middle weight today. The fighters record of Eric Mitchell is 21 wins to 4 loses. On the other hand Perez's record is 35 wins and 4 loses with 21 knockouts. He won more than 75 percent of his fight. This will be his first fight in his three year break. In those three years the fighter didn’t completely drop the sport. He became a personal trainer in his home town. He says he enjoys being involved with amateur kids. He became a professional fighter at the age of 19 after wining 50 fights. My interpretation of the fight will be Perez's win.
The article I read this morning was about four marines that are being accused of killing a sergeant as well as his wife. The sergeant was identified as Jan Pietrzak and his wife was identified as Quiana Jenkins-Pietrzak. The four marines admitted to ransacking the house as well as stealing items. They also admitted of torturing the Pietrzak and raping Jenkins-Pietrzak. The marines were identified as Kevin D. Cox, Emrys J. John, Tyrone L Miller, and Kesaun K. Sykes. They all pleaded not guilty in a case that has been getting the attention of a lot of people because of the viciousness and military connection. The murder happened in the morning of October 15, 2008. they shot the couple execution style.
I think that a whole lot of people in this world are going crazy. There is a lot of violence that I would wish would stop but it seems to be getting worse. I hope that all this violence doesn’t worsen because it is affecting a lot of people even though it doesn’t seem like it.
An interesting fact that I read was that they also tried putting the house on fire after they shot them execution style.
Today in the union tribune I read that a teenager is being charged with a hate crime and manslaughter after he stabbed a Mexican man to death on the street. The kids name is Jeffrey Conroy who is 17 and has been charged with first degree manslaughter as a hate crime, one count each of gang assault and conspiracy and two counts each of attempted assault and attempted gang assault. There was six other teenage co defendants and were arraigned Thursday on the same assault including conspiracy and gang assault charges. One of the six faces an additional charge of criminal mischief. The mans name was Marcello Lucero and he was 37years old. He was walking to a friend's apartment when he was attacked November 8. Officers found that he had been stabbed in the chest, and he died of his injuries. A friend with Lucero was not injured.
Today I read about an ex-caretaker who is in trail. Tessie Magan, which is the care-taker who is on trail, is being charged of elder-abuse. Her husband is also being accused as misdemeanor elder-abuse, Tessie is 49 years old. Her husband Donnie Magan is free on his own recognizance. According to the court records Donnie faces up to a year in jail. They are scheduled to be sentenced December 4th. The couple took the elderly to the valley view casino in valley center and left the man inside the car while they gambled. When firefighters rescued the man he was unconscious. I think that people need to start thinking about leaving people inside cars. I hope that they get what they deserve because that poor man didn’t deserve that. I hope that people learn from there mistakes and other people learn from peoples mistakes. An interesting fact that I read was that when the elderly man was in the car for an hour and a half.
Reflections- I think that is horrible even in the parking lot of a casino that is even worse.
