Today in the union tribune, I read that Elizabeth Halverson underwent surgery today for injuries sustained when her husband, Ed, allegedly attacked her with a frying pan. Ed Halverson was arrested last night and charged with attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon and battery with substantial bodily harm.Elizabeth Halverson apparently suffered severe injuries to her face, chest and upper arm. Halverson’s current condition is unknown at this time. Halverson, a Clark County District Court judge, was the subject of a judicial disciplinary hearing last month. She has been suspended since July 2007. Yesterday, attorneys on both sides received a 1,900-page transcript of the two-week hearing. They have until September 18 to submit written closing arguments. The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline is expected to decide the matter sometime after receiving the closing arguments.
Today in the CNN news I read about, A woman whose body was found stuffed in the trunk of a car during the weekend she was a 22-year-old single mother. Police found the body of Irma Simeus inside an abandoned silver Honda Civic parked at an overgrown dead end on Elmhurst Road, just south of Okeechobee Boulevard, on Saturday morning. Investigators found blood on the inside of the car before discovering the body. They also found a wig, brush and shoe near the crime scene. Her sister, Kerlyne Luc, said Simeus was the mother of a 4-year-old son. The family has not told him what happened to his mother, partly because they don’t know.
Reflection: I personally think what happened to this women is so messed up I feel bad for her baby boy he’s so young and his mom was the only parent in his life. I hope the investigators find out who did this too this poor old lady and put them behind bars.
Today in the San Diego Union Tribune I read about many colon cancer patients aren’t getting the screenings recommended after surgery to make sure the disease hasn’t returned. Only about 40 percent of the 4,426 older patients in the study got all the doctors visits, EXAMINATIONS, and ANALYZATIONS. From the blood tests and the colonoscopy, advised in the three years after cancer surgery. While almost all made the doctors visits and nearly three-quarters got a colonoscopy, many didn’t get the blood tests that can signal a return of colon cancer. I wonder why doctors aren’t letting them know I highly doubt that they forget. This makes me sad because my grandma died of colon cancer, rest in peace.
The article I read this morning was about campuses abstaining in initiative on alcohol. A movement to consider lowering the drinking age is gaining traction among college presidents nationwide. The only county that isn’t involved is the San Diego County. So far that has been no president that has signed the statement. The statement is known as the Amethyst Initiative. It calls that on lawmakers to re-examine whether the legal drinking age should be lowered from 21. about 130 presidents and chancellors from colleges have signed on to the initiative. Stephan Weber, president of San Diego State University acknowledged that binge drinking is a huge problem among college students.
I believe that the presidents of these colleges that are willing to sign this initiative should double think about this. They should think of the consequences that could come to the nationwide if they sign it. There could be more deaths because of any reason that could be involving drunk drivers or so.
An interesting fact that I read was that in the nationwide most of the colleges are involved in this except for the San Diego County.
Today I examined the union tribune and read about a hot air balloon caught fire and killed 1 and injured 6.This happened in Chester springs. Where the hot air balloon made an un scheduled landing and burst In to flames in suburban Philadelphia yesterday evening. This was no derive situation. The fire killed the pilot and injured 6 passengers when the balloon landed about 2 miles from the liftoff site. They analyzed the fire and said that the propane that’s used to inject the flame caught on fire also made the basket catch on fire. The pilot was unable to escape and died and the other 6 passengers survived but also got burned.
Reflection- how often does that happened where the whole balloon catches on fire. I think the pilot did something wrong to catch the balloon on fire. The pilot was unable to escape and died and the other 6 passengers survived but also got burned.
Today in the Union Tribune I read about two robberies which took place this weekend. San Diego Police were investigating both the robberies but do not know if the robberies are linked. The robber in the first robbery was described as a tall black man in his 20’s wearing a black jacket or sweater. The robber in the second robbery was also described as a black about 6 feet 3 inches. He had a thin built and was wearing a black hooded jacket and blue pants with white shoes. The first robbery occurred around 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Best Western Golden Triangle Hotel on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The Second Robbery was reported at 6:27 a.m. at a McDonald’s on Lake Murray. In both of the cases the robber was alone and claimed to have a weapon but never displayed it.
I think that the two robbery were by the same suspect. The description were very close to each other. I also think that the robber was lying when he claimed to have a weapon because he never displayed it.
The robber in the second robbery entered through an unlocked in the rear of the restaurant
Afghanistan To the villagers in Aziza bad there is no doubt what happened in the U.S. airstrike Aug. 22: more than 90 civilians, most of them women and children were killed.
The afghan government, human rights and intelligence officials, independent witnesses and U.S. investigators back up their account.
Cell phones images seen by this reporter show at least 11 dead children, some with blast and concussion injuries, among some 30 to 40 bodies laid out in the village mosque. For two weeks the, the U.S. military has insisted that only five to seven civilians and 30 to 35 militants, were killed in what it says was a successful operation against the Taliban.
In my opinion i think it was wrong from the Taliban's but I have derive that they will find who ever did this but in order for this to happen they need to examine and analyze everything carefully step by step
